Reaching My 100th Parkrun

23 August 2025

Reaching my 100th parkrun is a moment to pause and reflect. It all began back in May 2021 at Karkarook, right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. My daughter has been a huge motivator, getting a few of us out to parkruns on Saturday mornings.

My parkrun travels have taken me to eight different events, with 49 completed at my home parkrun at karkarook. I also have 35 parkruns to my name in Darwin, with another two each at Palmerston and Nightcliff.

Many of my parkruns have been a walk with some great humans along the way. I've shared the track with family, friends, and people I have worked with and had the pleasure of meeting new people. In Melbourne, parkruns always end up having a coffee afterward, talking about our week and what we’re looking forward to. Darwin parkruns always ended with my good friend Martha at the Parap Markets. It is truly one of the greatest ways to start a weekend.

Parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run or volunteer. It is a 5k event that takes place every Saturday morning. So if you've never joined in, I encourage you to look it up as there will be a parkrun location near you!
